Not a card today but something a bit more 3d. I got these Tonic Kensington Handbag dies ages ago, and they remained unused. Not because I don’t like them, but because once made up, the little gift bags and boxes etc which I love creating, do take up rather more room, so I only tend to make them as and when they are likely to be needed. Or when I just can’t resist any longer. I don’t think I mentioned before (and can’t be bothered to read back and check!) but when I started with stamping and paper craft, I said quite flatly that I was not going to make cards, but gift wrap, boxes and bags instead. Well, they were truly disastrous. The gift bags were the worst, made from quite flimsy paper because that was all I could get hold of and because I didn’t know any better. I stuck so much on the front that I had to counterbalance them by sticking something weighty to the back too or, when empty, they just fell over! And yet I was so proud of them…
Today we have lovely dies and all sorts of card and paper to play with. These are are actually easy and quick to construct and only takes one sheet of A4 or 12×12 for the main handbag, then you just add colour and accessories as you want. I didn’t go mad with these and kept them quite simple this time, but I can see endless possibilities! They feel nice and solid once made, measure approx. 10.5cm wide and 5cm deep. The side panels are 7cm high, although depending on how you finish them they will look taller (for example the blue one is 9cm high at the centre front).
No need for me to give instructions as Tonic have a great tutorial on YouTube. I watched it to see if what I thought I needed to do was correct…. No harm in making sure before diving on in!
These are lovely!! I love gift bags and always get matching gift tags but I’m a bit rubbish at wrapping..I start off with good intentions, but I get bored, or the cat wants to help..love your giftbags, so cute and dainty!

Thanks. I have the same cat problem. Riley always wants to sit on the wrapping roll. Also he has a curling ribbon ‘habit’ and will eat it if he gets the chance. So many times I have had to give chase and wrestle it out of his mouth. It is now locked away like a dangerous substance!

Lol! I love all the pretty ribbons but so does Ting-she once managed to eat about three inches worth and I had a couple of anxious days…that’s why I like gift bags!

Had the same problem. I saw some he must have secretly snaffled after it had been, shall we say, ‘evacuated’, had no idea of what it was and, because it was red, you can imagine the momentary panic. Then I remembered that, generally, intestines and the like are not shiny… a bit of bravery clad in two pairs of rubber gloves and mystery solved…

Omg…Lol! I would have been straight down the vet’s!! I admire your courage…I wonder, do they make it soluble for these sorts of incidents?

We did do the vet, just in case! But nope. fully intact. Think linked sausages…..

I love these gorgeous little gift bags! I think something like this is so much nicer than using your bog standard wrapping paper, and if you’re like me – pretty rubbish at wrapping – they are a little god-send! Plus, it’s a gift in itself!

Thanks. They are really good fun to do as well. I think they’d be great for girls’ parties, to decorate how they wanted, or as favours.

It’s such a lovely die, isn’t it? I caved in and bought it too just for making a gift for my friend, but it is so versatile, but I haven’t had time to play. Love the dotty card, so pretty 🙂 x

It is a great die, I am impressed with how well it fits together but Tonic are usually good like that. The dotty card is from Craftwork Cards, I probably should have mentioned that ! Hope you have fun with yours when you have the time!

Thanks for that, not used them before, I usually get my card stock from either Anne Marie Designs or Papermilldirect. I do keep telling my other half I should retire as I just can’t fit work in…alas it doesn’t work 🙂
